Earlier this year, OAFT member Food and Beverage Ontario – the food and beverage processing sector’s leadership organization – launched a unique, Ontario-based business development tool. This on-line tool helps new and expanding businesses connect with Ontario food and beverage processors to locate manufacturing capacity.
“A co-packer directory like the tool we have developed has been in demand for some time. There are so many exceptional product ideas, but connecting with the food and beverage community and locating capacity has historically been difficult especially for new companies. With the co-packer tool it is easy to find a manufacturer in Ontario that can assist with product test runs and production,” said Norm Beal, CEO, Food and Beverage Ontario.
An easy to use, drop-down menu guides users through the co-packer system helping to identify the type of product, preferred packaging, and volume and food safety requirements. The system has been successfully keeping pace with multiple queries daily. And as the system is tested it also evolves with new co-packers being added from across Ontario. Co-packing capacity for non-alcoholic beverages and highly specialized products are particularly in demand.
